HEROES; JUST ONE WILL SUFFICE

HEROES; JUST ONE WILL SUFFICE

By Raphael-wealth Olize

Growing up as child, it was a thing of pride to be accustomed to the current affairs of my nation, Nigeria. This was a major way of contending intellectual prowess amongst our age grade.  Until yesterday, while interacting with a young fellow and asking questions about my Nigeria, i realised it had become a foreign language.

NO ONE KNOWS ANYONE ANYMORE? What a situation!

Then I pondered to myself, ARE THERE NO MORE HEROES IN MY BELOVED NIGERIA? Is there no one with the will-power to do something worth praising anymore?  Travelling through the roads in my Nigeria, one can still feel the presence of the white Masters. Our roads are as old as the aged in the grave gone beyond.  Mention a Nigerian airways service and you'd have mentioned a name synonymous with unreliability- you can adjudge this with the story of the bird that found itself in the mouth of a cat.

Hello!!! Does Dana Air 992, Bellview flight 210 and Sosoliso 1145 ring a bell? Oh, where went your wings my Nigerian bird?

Tell me about the Nigerian Civil Service and I'll show you a system designed to administrate and not to produce. Nigerian educational system? So well it has produced mentally disabled graduates.

Who will go for us? Who will be the HERO? Just one will suffice.

I hear wailings and gun shots everywhere.

Like the hunter chasing to kill an antelope, Nigerians have become prey to the herdsmen.  Question: where are the gallant men (armed forces)?

WHERE ARE THE HEROES? OR ARE THERE NO MORE FUTURE GENERATIONS TO FIGHT FOR?

Ask me about heroes and I'll paint you an art of Nelson Mandela.  Ask me about heroes and I'll tell you the story of Colonel Rowan and his message to Garcia.  Ask me one more time and I'll tell you about Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and the BLW Nation; giving lives a meaning.

My Rev Chris Oyakhilome; A NIGERIAN, YET A MILLION HEROES IN ONE.

Nigeria, where are your heroes? Are there still heroes coming from our mother land? Who will climb on the horseback with a flag for her people?  Who will dare be the hero in the Nigerian politics; to challenge the status quo like Stephen Keshi/ Samson Siasia in the field of football or Soyinka in the pages of literature?

Alas! Alas! From a distance, we heard the clamor for "CHANGE". So we danced to the rhythm and now we have to look into the dictionary to distinguish Change from Chains. Truly we need a change; but who will set the guage? We must produce a hero or better still, YOU BECOME THE HERO.  Selah!!!!

You reading this; will you be the hero? Just one hero will suffice.

Time will fail me to mention those countrymen and even the soldiers who have gone to the land of silence untimely; The land of peace has been flooded with the waters of terror.

The land ought to be green but I look at the map and I see blood stains on the national colours.

Is the land still green? Again, who will go for us? Who will be our hero? We need a hero!

The future generations need a hero. Just one will suffice.

It’s been 56 years of independence. We have crossed the bridge of five decades. We celebrate, and are merry.

However, sober reflection is a necessity.

This is the time,my time and your time to make the change we need as a nation for the sake of the future.

Be the hero in your day and in your world today.

Just one hero will suffice; Just you will suffice.

A piece of my heart to the Nation Nigeria, in loving adoration of those who have dared to distinguish themselves. In loving memory of all our soldiers, who lost their lives in the fight against terror in Nigeria.

WHO will go for us??
